About Frese Angus and Hereford
Frese Angus and Hereford was started by brothers Eric and Michael Frese in 2004 with a heifer purchase from Quirk Land and Cattle. Females were purchased in following years from Daigger Angus, Jindra Angus, Gardiner Angus, and Baldridge Angus. A few of the cows were flushed to utilize the already established commercial cow herd to raise more registered calves. Specifically, Baldridge Princess S11 was flushed extensively, and many females can currently be traced to this exceptional female.
The Hereford side of the operation is smaller and still being established. Females have been purchased from Linton Polled Herefords, Sandhill Farms, and Vin-Mar Cattle. Our goal is to grow our numbers and continually improve the quality of our cattle in both breeds to give our customers a wide selection of high-quality bulls to choose from.
From 2009-2013 small numbers of bulls were sold privately. Sales and interest increased from 2014-2016, then in 2017 the decision was made to switch to an annual spring bull sale. Following the 2021 sale, Michael made the decision to focus on commercial heifer development. He sold his portion of the registered herd to Eric. Eric, along with wife Ashley, daughters Ellie and Maggie, and son Lawson are now the owners of the registered operation. Close work continues with Michael, wife Jenny, daughter Bailey, and son Jasper, as well as Eric and Michael’s parents Kent and Jacque.
The three families also farm in the area raising corn, soybeans, and alfalfa. Eric also works for Select Sires, while Ashley is a teacher at Christ Lutheran School north of Columbus and operates an online shirt business called The Farmer Took a Wife.
We thank you for taking the time to look over our operation, and look forward to meeting everyone. It’s been a blessing being in the Angus business, and the cattle business in general as we believe it contains some of the best people around.
